Unicron

One cron to rule them all.

A Mac-only front end for a second brain personal knowledge system, using Claude as the engine.

Scroll

Hi, from Michael (konigi). Unicron is a second brain (aka personal knowledge management system) made up of plain markdown files. It uses Claude Code skills and requires the Claude CLI install. Claude acts as the inference engine, writing my daily brief, turning transcripts into clean notes, creating links, and keeping you updated on the tasks you should be working on.

Notes in the vault (folder) are all plain text on disk. Nothing is locked-in to a single system or LLM, so you can open them anywhere in any editor. You can keep your vault on a networked location like Dropbox or iCloud Drive so they're available on all your devices.

  • Today the morning brief from the whole vault.
  • Tasks every open task pulled into one sorted list.
  • Library your notes as clean, editable markdown.
  • Graph the whole vault drawn as linked notes.
Daily brief

An executive assistant that knows what you need

Unicron opens to Today and writes you a brief from the whole vault: your top priorities, the threads you keep avoiding, what's still open, and what's due. You read three paragraphs instead of digging through folders.

Library

Your notes, as clean markdown

The Library is where you read and edit: people, areas, projects, meetings, and journal. It's the same folder Obsidian would open, so nothing is trapped. Claude keeps the formatting tidy, so you're not fighting markdown to write a note.

Projects

Work that spans a dozen meetings

Some work doesn't fit in one note. A project keeps that work's meetings, tasks, and loose thinking in one place inside an area, so a months-long thread stays together instead of scattering across the vault.

Tasks

Every open task, in one list

Tasks hide inside notes you wrote weeks ago. Unicron pulls every open one into a single view and sorts them into yours, what you're waiting on from other people, and threads by area. You get the real list without keeping a separate to-do app in sync.

Graph

See how it all connects

The graph draws the whole vault as a map of linked notes. It's the fastest way to see what connects to what, and to find the note you only half remember.

Capture

Capture without breaking flow

Press ⌘N to add a meeting, task, project, journal entry, person, or area. Paste a raw transcript and Claude turns it into a clean note and files it where it belongs. Stray thoughts can go to an inbox from your phone or a hotkey, and Unicron files them later, so the vault stays organized while you keep moving.

How it works

What you need to run it.

The paid Claude plan is a hard requirement, so I'm saying it up front.

  • Apple Silicon Mac

Unicron is a native app for M-series Macs.

  • The Claude Code CLI

The app installs it for you on first run.

  • A paid Claude plan

Pro or Max. Unicron uses your own Claude account, so there’s nothing extra to manage and no second subscription.

Unicron is free.

Download it and use it. If it earns a spot in your day, you can pay what you want through LemonSqueezy, but you don't have to.
